The Australian Football League and Cricket Australia constructed Australia’s first full sized synthetic turf oval at Point Cook in Melbourne. This project was a joint initiative between the AFL, Cricket Australia, Victorian Government and Wyndham City. The synthetic turf oval has been developed to meet AFL and Cricket Australia standards and address the challenges presented by climate change and drought. The $2.4 million facility was completed by 2011.
